Our recent snow wheelin’ trip to Cowiche Mill Rd had me doing some plowing when trying to break trail, because my 37 inch Courser’s aired down equated to about a 33 inch outcome, left me sitting pretty low, hence the plowing and loss of traction. The guys I was running with mostly had larger diameter tires, and had far less trouble breaking trail as the rode more on top of the snow. Now I have said I’d never go larger than a 37 inch tire for multiple reasons, but after having to freight train my way up to turn around (3 feet at a time with a 10 yard run up) , I reconsidered my former opinion and started considering a bigger tire for Julia our 2007 Jeep Wrangler JKU Saharicon.

Luckily enough as I was about to order a new set of 4 – 40 inch Pro Comp Extreme MT 2s from Black Diamond 4×4, and guy in Yakima posted up the exact same thing, saving me $400 in taxes etc. So I spent $30 on fuel and most of the day Thursday running up to Yakima to grab these brand new tires. Then after getting home started the breakdown and rebuild of my beadlocks. Les Schwab was kind enough to pop the rear beads off for me and I did the rest in our garage. Now Julia sits Proudly up on 40/13.50/17 Pro Comps, and Rusty or Ol’ Red as Mandi calls it (our 79 Dodge w200 Power Wagon got the hand me down 37/12.50/17 Mastercraft Courser MTXs along with some shiny new aluminum wheels, since we recently added a Rough Country 4 inch lift kit, the 37’s fit without any trimming (yet)…
