We left at 08:00, three RVs trailering Jeeps headed for Sand Hollow State Park in Hurricane UT. We (Mike & Angie, Irish & Tina, and Mandi and I) made pretty good time pushing through to Springville UT (just below Provo) the first day, farther than we thought we’d get, but we definitely wanted to get beyond Salt Lake City’s traffic. We were able to find a KOA that had 3 spots left.

After a night’s rest we rolled out about 09:30 and arrived just after 1:00 pm at our camp sites for the week in Hurricane, UT at the WillowWind RV Park (as there were no RV spots available in or closer to the State Park), we set up camp and considered the trails we’d run, by watching videos on YouTube. After about 30 or so minutes we decided why not hit a trail and drove out to Toquerville Falls, La Verkin, UT about 20 minutes drive to our north.
It was still quite warm out and we were about half way in when I heard a Psssst air blow out, I immediately thought I’d blown a tire, however after a quick inspection found the heat (engine + ambient) had killed one of my air lines (this would become a theme for our adventure). Deciding I could fix the pesky line back at camp we pressed on and had a nice evening drive through the falls and back to camp. Along the way we found a stock Gladiator about half way in with a flat front tire, Mike was able to set a plug and air the guy up and we suggested he turn around and head out as this was his second flat of his trip so his spare was already in use.
Upon returning to camp I set out to replace my airline to be ready for the morning’s adventure that was to be an easy trail called Sand Hollow for Wimps (aka east Rim).
