Copper City Run

Where East and West Meet…

Saturday we gathered at Little Naches Campground for what seems to be an annual sort of event. We had 7 eastern WA rigs and about the same from western WA. The original plan was to run some trails, but they were all still closed because of snow and run-off. So the group decided to head towards Bumping Lake and attempt to reach Copper City. We made it to within a mile and a half of the actual city (after clearing some blown down trees to open the trail), but had to turn around due to snow and ice, “This is June right?” Too many folks were having traction issues so we decided to turn around and take a shot at Granite Lake and found similar conditions and headed back to camp. Sunday the west siders headed back and a few the us east siders again attempted Copper City, believing we could make it to the top. Unfortunately we were forced to repeat Saturdays woes but did make it further up the mountain finishing at about 3/8 of a mile from the top. We returned to camp loaded up and headed home. The best weekends are spent exploring and enjoying life, and add in some mountains and it just gets better!
