Easter Fun Run Tollgate, OR

Just when most folks have had enough snow, we seek it out, because snow wheelin’ is less likely to break stuff compared to rocks… Every year we try to do a run up in the Blue Mtns of OR, when the trails finally open to Jeeps – that’s why we go to Idaho before Easter, all our trails are closed for the snowmobiles. This was a fun run with great attendance and Jeeps of all shapes and sizes…

ID Snow Wheelin’

So a bunch of our club went back up into northern ID, Pritchard ID actually for some deep snow wheeling. We left on Thursday, wheeled Friday & Saturday and headed home on Sunday. The snow was magnificent and hella deep. Unfortunately Mandi had to work, so I had to steal the pics from the rest of the gang. I already want to go back!

Mountain Mafia Invitation

We were invited along with Black Diamond 4×4 to an impromptu open snow wheeling session on Mountain Mafia’s, Bonner Ferry property to play in the snow. So we did just that. It seemed like a long drive as we didn’t trailer our Jeep Julia, but it was well worth it, and what a great piece of land! We spent the day tearing around in the Idaho Snow, which got better throughout the day as it just kept dumping on us the whole day. Great place, awesome friends, great snow and Jeepin’ this is the life! Mike working the rocks...

Black Diamond 4×4 -Christmas Tree Run

The Rattlesnake 4X4 Club and Black Diamond 4X4 Parts and Fab of Kennewick, WA teamed up for a Christmas Tree run in Tollgate Oregon. We had a great turnout and enjoyed meeting new 4 Wheelin’ enthusiast. We hope to make this an annual event! I don’t believe anybody actually got themselves a tree, but fun was definitely had by all. Oh and yes, I still have my green cast on – I can drive, it’s an automatic… For more details & pictures, check out our forum post –...

New Dog?

New Dog?

So I’m in a CAST and Mandi and I get to talking somehow about how Syler our 11 year German Sheppard/Collie mix is slowing down and seems to be having some health problems. So what if we got a younger dog to help him stay youthful as long as possible. She offers I’m gonna be around the house for awhile anyway, so another dog shouldn’t be too much trouble? So off we go to the shelter to see if there are any pups to be rescued, I sort of got on board knowing they had some mid sized Aussie mixes, so we end up with an addition to...

Time To Heal…

Time To Heal…

So after our trip to Texas to help after Hurricane Harvey, Mandi & I took a little time off to heal our bank accounts, and it seemed a good time to get some medical work, I’d been putting off for about two years. Hence you may notice a slow down in our activities. It looks like this might be a long haul recovery, as I had a cyst in my left foot impinging on both my ankle and a few nerves making it painful to walk. So I got me me a cast to mat my bike Jaded. We’ll get back to the fun stuff as soon as I am able, I promise!

Texas Relief Trip – Epilogue

Having spent only 9 days in the area, likened to a war zone we were both physically and mentally exhausted, making our time seem more like a month. We had accomplished many of the goals we set out, and things seemed to be coming back together for the area. Power and water were being restored to many parts of the area. Roadways (secondary roads) were being cleared of debris, and regular supplies were starting to reach the area. As exhausting as the work had been we would have done more, but it was time for us to head north back the WA....

Port Aransas TX

Today we ventured over to the island town of Port Aransas, TX they were on the very front end of Harvey’s landfall. They still have a curfew, and while we were okay to take the ferry over we were required to stop at the make shift civic center/ FEMA HQ, to check in. All volunteers are signed in, and their skillset is taken into account. Since we had our trusty chainsaw, they had plenty of folks’ requests stacked up. We were able to help a handful of property owners cut away some broken or partially removed palms, and trim up one...

AP Texas 3

Touring Rockport… So this morning we woke up early to take a little field trip over to Rockport Texas, ground zero for Hurricane Harvey’s first landfall at Category 4 strength. We shot quite a few pictures of the town, and remind you this is two weeks post Harvey’s departure. The damage is surreal, one glimpse of hope we saw a News van doing a report on location in Rockport.   A debris field in between Hwy 35’s north/south lanes Debris collected and temporarily held in between the lanes of Hwy 35. We’re Home...
